I’ve been quiet for a while again. In that time I’ve decided 2 things: I will only go for parts in films and other projects that I will be proud to be involved with, and I’ve done nearly enough background work to learn what I need to learn by doing that.
The first decision means that I’ve passed on going to casting calls for the Jessica Simpson movie that’s being shot here and some others I’ve heard about – horror films, for example. On the other hand, I did go for a casting call this morning. More about that in a moment.
The second means that I need to do what it takes to get speaking roles in films and other projects. That may mean I need to go to L.A., as much as that seems like a less than desirable option for other reasons.
OK, the casting call I went for this morning was for a CBS miniseries called Comanche Moon. It’s a prequel to Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana’s popular Lonesome Dove miniseries. They’re the screenwriters who recently won an Academy Award for best screenplay adaptation for Brokeback Mountain, so I expect this to be a worthy endeavor. It will be filmed here in Santa Fe between April and July. They said there’s some possibility of getting a speaking role.
Other major films will be shot near here soon, but I don’t know enough about them yet to know if they’re something I’ll be interested in. One of them stars Tim Allen, John Travolta, and Martin Lawrence. I’m waiting for more information.
I’ll let you know what happens.
